Springfield-Greene County Library -- White River Valley Historical Quarterly -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The White River Valley Historical Quarterly has been published by the White River Valley Historical Society since 1961 and is still in publication. The Society is based in Taney County on the western Missouri and Arkansas border. The area of geographic interest for the Society and the Quarterly, includes Barry, Stone, Greene, Christian, Taney, Douglas and Ozark counties in Missouri, as well as Madison, Carroll, Boone, Marion and Baxter Counties in Arkansas. These counties are part of the White River watershed in the southern Ozarks. Cities in the region include Springfield, Branson, Galena, Cassville and Forsyth in Missouri. Arkansas cities in the region include Mountain Home, Harrison, Yellville and Eureka Springs.
